She has been painting pictures of Australia for over 25 years. capturing the essence of Australia now and in times past. She is particularly inspired by country and farm life in rural Australia with an affinity with draft horses that date back to childhood.
"I used to beg my grandma to tell me stories about her life in the olden days. the horse and cart, making bread, having no hot and cold running water.... life without the mod. cons. I loved all that. Life was less complicated then. Life was simple... there was an unspoiltness to living without all the gadgets. Simple life, family relationships, where people were friendly, they had the time to sit. Where you could put your feet up and have a "cuppa" and take time to admire Gods creation. There was so much they didn't have, but they just enjoyed life."
Inspired by Eric Jolliffe Hans Heyson and Darcy Doyle ----- artists that could capture the atmosphere and transport people back in time, Albert Namatjira for his unique use of the colours of Australia and Rolf Harris because he brought out the " Aussieness" of Australia to be appreciated by all of Australia and the World.
In Ellen's Laughing Kookaburra Studio and Art Gallery located in Bendigo she continues to create new Australian artworks in oils. acrylics, watercolour, pastels and pencil. Her work reflects the love she feels for the Australian landscape, bird life and country life in days gone by. This multi talented artist [ several song albums as well ] sells her work to corporate and private collections world wide.
She continues to be inspired by her rural surroundings.
